This church first-floor project was designed to move away from the typical atmosphere of a traditional church lobby and instead create a space that
feels more like a refined community lounge. The overall space was kept minimal with a palette of white and light wood tones,
while exposed concrete ceilings and clean linear lighting add a modern yet understated mood.
Rather than relying on excessive decorative elements, the design focuses on structure, proportion,
and the natural flow of light to become the atmosphere of the space itself.
The key design feature is the large open wood shelving structure that extends through the center of the space.
More than just storage or a partition, it was planned as a sculptural element that naturally connects the flow of the interior.
The repeating modular composition and intentional negative space
create a gallery-like rhythm, allowing each angle of the space to feel visually curated and memorable.
The lounge area was designed with an open community-focused mood in mind — a place where people can comfortably gather, sit,
and connect. Soft-toned chairs, minimal tables,
and open circulation create a relaxed and contemporary atmosphere rather than the rigid feeling often associated
with traditional church interiors. The space was designed to feel approachable and natural, almost like a modern café lounge within the church environment.Glass partitions and open layouts were carefully used to divide the space without blocking sightlines.
Light and movement flow naturally throughout the interior,
making the entire space feel brighter,
lighter, and more open. The warm wood texture layered over the minimal white base prevents the space
from feeling cold and instead creates a calm, welcoming balance.Lighting also plays a major role in shaping the mood of the project.
The linear lighting running across the ceiling adds depth and rhythm to the space, contrasting beautifully with the raw texture of the exposed concrete ceiling.
The result is a space that feels clean but never flat — minimal, yet full of atmosphere.
This project was not simply about designing a functional church interior. It was about creating a new kind of community space where people
can naturally gather, stay,
and connect.Minimal yet warm, understated yet full of character.StudioAnna focused on designing a space
where atmosphere, community,
and identity could naturally come together and be remembered.
